Our project's licensed clinicians assess and treat individuals who have symptoms of sexual preoccupation (often referred to as a compulsive sexual behavior disorder, hyper-sexuality, or sexual addiction) as well as problematic pornography use and pornography addiction. Addressing these issues in treatment is especially important, since, according to psychologists Marshall and Marshall (2012), “... a substantial number of sexual offenders meet criteria for sexual preoccupation, which is often referred to as ‘sexual addiction [and] sexual preoccupation has been identified as the dynamic factor most strongly predictive for reoffending". Sexual preoccupation may include the escalation into risky, problematic, and illegal sexual behaviors such as the viewing of child pornography (also known as child sexual exploitation materials, CSEM), acts of lewdness, soliciting prostitution, and spousal rape. These are all issues that we treat in our Escalated Preoccupations program.
Our program is also approved to provide treatment for men who have been arrested for adult solicitation in lieu of a "Johns" class. Along with this, we provide aftercare treatment for individuals who have successfully completed traditional sex offender treatment and are in need of continual support in preventing future problematic sexual behaviors related to their sexual preoccupation/addictive arousal.
The Global Prevention Project™ offers weekly psycho-educational sexual recovery programming which includes addressing the criminogenic features related to an individual's escalated offending behaviors.
